Lithograph-production is a complex and difficult process, as it is mostly done by hand.

First, a photograph is taken of the painting that is being reproduced, and then a transparency is made in the size of the lithograph. The transparency is placed on a light-table and then, Mihanovic starts separating the colors. For each individual color he sets a thin transparent foil and using a special graphic pencil, makes an outline of everything on the painting that contains that one specific color. In the end there are approximately 30 foils, one for each color.

Afterwards, special printing plates are made based on each foil and, after Mihanovic has mixed and prepared all the colors the lithographs are printed on a manual printing press, one color at a time. Because the artist is so heavily involved in the process of making lithographs, their value and status is that of a partially original work of art.
